SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA.com) — Police Monday were investigating the death of a woman whose body was discovered in a San Bernardino wash.

Police received a call around 6:20 a.m. from a passerby who saw the body near the Santa Ana River wash at Fairway Drive and E Street, San Bernardino police said.

The woman, believed to be a transient in her 40s, suffered some sort of trauma. Police are investigating her death as a homicide.

A male transient was taken into custody after he was found in a nearby tree, authorities said.

Police would not say whether there is any relationship between the man and the victim.
