VICTORVILLE (AP) — Two men and a woman convicted of torturing a 5-year-old boy in the Southern California town of Apple Valley have been sentenced to prison.
Martin Roland Morales was sentenced to 78 years to life, Juan Carlos Santos-Herrera received 32 years to life and Crystal Rodriguez got four years on Friday.
The Victorville Daily Press reports a judge told Morales that if he could sentence him to a longer term, he would.
During trial, the boy testified that Morales starved him and burned him with a glue gun. When he was rescued in August 2009 by deputies who were checking on a child abuse call, prosecutors said the boy had about 100 bruises on his body.
The defendants, who fled during the probe, were arrested in September 2010.
