MAYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a 26-year-old man has been fatally shot in the backyard of his Maywood home.

A news release issued by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department says the shooting occurred on the 3800 block of East 52nd Street about 3:30 a.m. Saturday.

The victim, described as a Hispanic man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the statement, he shot once in the upper torso.

A motive for the shooting was not known.
