Pope Benedict XVI's Twitter Account Transformed, Tweets Deleted After Resignation

STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) — Pope Benedict XVI's official Twitter account was transformed Thursday following his official resignation.

All of the tweets were deleted from the @Pontifex account, which was opened the beginning of December.

The main picture was replaced with the papal seal, and the name of the account was changed to "Sede Vacante", which means "the seat being vacant" in Latin.

The English account was the pope's main account but is also connected to eight others where the pope tweeted in different languages. All nine accounts have been transformed.
