SOUTH LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A burglary suspect and his female passenger were in custody Tuesday following a high-speed pursuit on several Southland freeways and surface streets in South LA.
The man jumped out of the metallic blue, four-door sedan before the female took over and drove away. She was arrested after abandoning the vehicle and scaling several fences.
The male suspect, who apparently changed clothes, was arrested just before 1:30 p.m.
The pursuit, which began at 12:14 p.m., spanned across three counties, as well as the 60, 57, 91, 5, 710, 105 and 110 freeways.
At 12:51 p.m., the male suspect exited the 110 Freeway in South Los Angeles, where several people were almost hit during the chase.
Chino police started chasing the vehicle at Schaefer Avenue and Roswell Avenue, but the California Highway Patrol took over the pursuit at the 91 Freeway in Orange County.
Gil Leyvas was overhead in Sky9 as the suspect reached speeds of more than 100 miles an hour.
San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies had attempted to stop the vehicle, which is wanted in connection with a burglary.
