Deputies Investigating Man's Death In Hacienda Heights

HACIENDA HEIGHTS (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Monday were investigating the death of a young man who was killed overnight in Hacienda Heights.

Just before 10 p.m. Sunday, Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the 1800 block of Wickshire Avenue in Hacienda Heights on a report of an assault.

Residents reported hearing a fight between a large group of people before they fled the scene.

"I just heard a whole bunch of people yelling, 'Stop!', or 'Oh, my gosh get out of here. He's not moving,' or 'He's not responding,'" neighbor Ellen Holladay said.

When deputies arrived, they found a Hispanic male in his 20s dead in the street.

Detectives originally believed the man was a victim of a fatal hit-and-run accident, but an investigation revealed he died from blunt force trauma.

Witnesses told police he was walking when he was approached by the suspects riding in a beige SUV and a dark-colored BMW. Words were reportedly exchanged, then the victim was attacked and run over with the SUV.

Investigators say three of the suspects later showed up at a Whittier hospital with stab wounds. An SUV was also recovered.

The men were detained for questioning, but have not yet been arrested.
