Emotional Memorial Held For Couple Allegedly Slain By Dorner

IRVINE (CBSLA.com) — The memorial service at Concordia University in Irvine for Monica Quan and her fiance Keith Lawrence Sunday delivered on the promise of being emotional.

Quan, 28, and Lawrence, 27, were found shot to death in his parked car on Feb. 3. Quan's father, a retired LAPD captain, represented Christopher Dorner at a Board of Rights hearing that ultimately led to his firing.

Authorities believe Quan -- a Cal State Fullerton women's assistant basketball coach -- and Lawrence were murdered by  Dorner as a revenge killer.

Today, friends and family, basketball colleagues, students, people Quan coached all remembered the engaged couple the way they lived and not the way they died.

Quan and Lawrence -- who was a campus officer for the University of Southern California -- met when they were students and basketball players at Concordia University six years ago.

Sunday's service lasted four emotional hours. Journalists were allowed to attend but organizers wanted nothing recorded, audio or video.

The father's of the couple both eulogized their children., Randal Quan said of his daughter, "It's not for me or anybody else to question why God has done what he has done. I want all of you to know my faith has not been shaken as a result of this. I know that God has a plan for Monica and Keith."

The couple will be buried together.
