LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) Antonio Bostic scored 21 points and Stephen F. Austin defeated Long Beach State 68-60 in a matchup of conference leaders Friday night.
Taylor Smith and Hal Bateman scored 15 points apiece for the Lumberjacks (23-3), who share
the top spot in the Southland Conference with Northwestern State.
Stephen F. Austin has kept opponents to fewer than 70 points in each of their last 58 games, and has allowed just 49 points per game this season, best in Division I. But offensively on Friday, they shot 57 percent – including 72 percent (13 of 18) in the second half.
Mike Caffey had 24 points to lead all scorers for Long Beach State (17-10), which fell to 12-2 at home. James Ennis added 12 points and 10 rebounds.
The 49ers have clinched a share of the Big West title with three conference games remaining.
