7-Eleven Clerk Nearly Shot In The Head During Armed Robbery In Anaheim

ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com) — A convenience store clerk was almost shot in the head during an armed robbery in Anaheim early Thursday morning.

The incident, which was captured on surveillance cameras, happened around 5:40 a.m. at a 7-Eleven in the 700 block of North Euclid Street.

The suspected gunman entered the store and demanded money from the 70-year-old clerk while an accomplice was on the "lookout," according to Sgt. Bob Dunn of the Anaheim Police Department.

The alleged thief hit the victim in the head with his gun, which caused it to fire.

"It causes burns to the clerk's face and he falls down," said Dunn.

KCAL9's Suraya Fadel said the suspect then turned to another employee and asked for cash.

The worker, who wished to remain unidentified, said, "He demanded money from me. I told him we didn't have any money. The register was open. He took the whole tray."

Authorities described the reported robber as Hispanic with a large build. He was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, a blue bandana over his face and jeans.

The second suspect, also described as Hispanic, was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and jeans.

The investigation is ongoing.
