VENTURA (CBSLA.com) — A 32-year-old Oxnard man has been arrested after police say he tried to kidnap a 6-year-old girl.
Anthony Parish was booked into the Ventura County Jail for attempted kidnapping of a juvenile female.
Officials say on Saturday, around 4:30 p.m., the suspect was seen loitering around a playground near the Pacific View Mall at 3301 E. Main Street.
Authorities said Parish approached the girl, asked her to go with him and attempted to grab her. The victim was able to get away and alerted her father who was shopping in a nearby store.
Parish was reportedly detained by security and the girl’s father.
The Ventura Police are asking other possible Parish victims to step forward and call them at (805) 339-4441. Police also want to remind parents not to leave their children unattended — even if they are in a very public place and within close proximity.
