1 Dead, 8 Injured In 5 Freeway SUV Rollover Crash
SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — One man was killed and at least eight other people injured in a SUV rollover crash on the 5 Freeway.
The California Highway Patrol said a 63-year-old man was killed when the SUV he was a passenger in blew out a tire in Fresno County.
The crash, in the city of Kingsburg, was reported to the CHP at 3:50 p.m. Saturday.
The 2003 Ford Expedition was going about 80-85 miles per hour when a right rear tire blew, said the CHP.
The vehicle overturned several times and came to rest on its wheels.
The deceased -- pronounced dead at the scene -- and the accident victims were all residents of Santa Ana.
The driver, Adan Acosta, a 43-year-old Santa man, was transported to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno with major injuries.
A 21-year-old woman and two girls, aged 8 and 17, were also transported to Community Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries.
Paramedics took a 21-year-old woman and a 13-year-old girl to Adventist Health in Hanford with moderate injuries.
A 19-year-old woman and a 21-year-old woman suffered minor injuries and were transported to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno.
