MONTEREY PARK (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Friday was investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting.

Montebello police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance between a man and his girlfriend at a motel just after 12 a.m.

Arriving officers saw a couple take off in a vehicle, which they followed to Atlantic Boulevard and Harding Avenue.

Monterey Park police then initiated a traffic stop and the man flashed a handgun at officers, which prompted them to start shooting.

The suspect died at the scene.
