MALIBU (CBSLA.com) — A hit-and-run accident along Pacific Coast Highway killed a 44-year-old tow truck driver overnight, officials said.
The accident took place around 9 p.m. Monday on PCH at John Tyler Driver, near Pepperdine University, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Ronald Carver, who worked for Platinum Town and Transport, was tending to a disabled vehicle on the dark road when he was fatally struck.
The Newbury Park resident was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police say the car involved in the accident traveled along PCH for about two miles until the female driver crashed into a parked car and finally stopped, the LASD said.
The driver, 44-year-old Jill Rose of Santa Monica, was hospitalized with non life-threatening. She is being investigated for felony hit-and-run and driving under the influence.
The crash and investigation shut down the eastbound lanes of PCH near John Tyler Drive and the Malibu Pier.
