CASTAIC (CBSLA.com) — The California Highway Patrol Friday evening began escorting drivers over the Grapevine section of Interstate 5.
Snow closed the major artery between Central and Southern California was closed just after 4:13 p.m. Friday.
By 8 p.m., officials reported that they have begun escorting drivers.
Elsewhere in Lebec, officials reported that as many as 25 cars were involved in a pile-up. It was not known how many people, if any, were injured.
Brittney Hopper, reporting for CBS2 and KCAL9, says traffic was backed up for miles.
It was not immediately known when the roadway would be fully operational.
