TORRANCE (CBSLA.com) — Torrance police responding to a burglary alarm at a jewelry store say they have shot and wounded a suspect.
The confrontation in front of Morgan’s Jewelers on Hawthorne Boulevard occurred about 6:15 a.m. Sunday.
“Upon arrival, officers observed forced entry into the business, located a suspect and an officer involved shooting occurred,” police said in a department statement.
The suspected burglar was taken to the hospital after being struck in the hand.
He has since been released and was taken to the police station for booking.
It’s unclear if the suspect was acting alone.
No officers were injured.
