WHITTIER (CBSLA.com) — Authorities on Friday were investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a man in a residential area of Whittier.

The incident occurred at 4:56 p.m. near the 7700 block of Paul Drive, police said.

Sky9’s Stu Mundel, reporting over the scene, says officers with the Whittier Police Department responded to the scene and found one man down.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The motive for the shooting was not immediately known.
