VAN NUYS (CBSLA.com) — A 20-year-old Hollywood man was charged Tuesday with breaking into actor Taye Diggs’ home Sunday night.
Hassan Omar Juma pleaded not guilty to one felony count of first-degree burglary with a person present in Van Nuys Superior Court.
The “Private Practice” star reportedly interrupted Juma “looking for things to take” inside his garage around 11:10 p.m. after returning home from the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Juma allegedly fled the scene, but Diggs chased him down, tackled him and detained him until police arrived 10 minutes later.
The suspect was arrested and remains jailed on $50,000 bail.
Juma is due back in court Feb. 8.
If convicted, he faces up to six years in state prison.
