LAKEWOOD (CBSLA.com) — A suspected car thief who tried to escape from law enforcement through the attic of an abandoned Lakewood house ended up climbing out a small vent and falling into the waiting arms of sheriff’s deputies.
At approximately 4 p.m., deputies said they spotted a stolen vehicle.
After directing the driver to pull over, the suspected car thief ran from the vehicle and into an abandoned house at 4903 Fidler Avenue.
The suspect barricaded himself in the attic for around a half hour before crawling out of an attic vent on the side of the house, Stu Mundel reported from Sky9.
As he slowly pulled himself through the opening, deputies propped a ladder up against the house. The suspect climbed onto the ladder but fell halfway down onto the grass below, where deputies stood ready to place him under arrest.
Officials have not released the suspect’s identity or further details.
