KOREATOWN (CBSLA.com) — A 50-something man who allegedly threatened to kill police and commit suicide barricaded himself on the top level of an apartment building in Koreatown Wednesday evening.
The suspect called authorities around 6 p.m. and told them he would shoot arriving officers and anyone else if they approached him or the building at 942 S. Kenmore Avenue.
Police immediately evacuated the apartment complex and nearby homes, according to Sky9’s Stu Mundel.
Mundel said officials have a history with the suspect, who may be ex-military personnel.
A SWAT team and crisis negotiators took the man into custody around 10 p.m.
