ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST (CBSLA.com) – Officials say they’ve found human remains near a shallow grave in Big Tujunga Canyon.
Homicide detectives and a sheriff’s search and rescue team ventured to Big Tujunga Canyon Road Saturday, according to the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department. The spot is located three miles into the Angeles National Forest, above the Lake View Terrace area of Los Angeles.
On Jan. 9, hikers reported seeing a shallow grave in that area and although deputies found the grave, they found no human remains at that time.
The L.A. County Coroner’s Office sent a special operations response team to the scene.
The Coroner has taken possession of the remains. Officials said that due to the condition of the remains, the persona’s age, gender and identification is unknown pending further investigation.
Anyone with information was asked to call sheriff’s investigators at (323) 890-5500.
