LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) —Police shot and wounded a knife-wielding man in a Jefferson Park grocery store Friday morning.
Police received a call at around 7:50 a.m. of a black male armed with a knife and swinging it at other customers at Advanced Food Market, 5469 West Adams Blvd., according to LAPD Sgt. Rudy Lopez.
Authorities say the male suspect had entered the store with a 6-year-old boy.
“The officers arrived, they made their own observations and observed a suspect, a male black, 52 year old, matching the description given, wielding a knife at several victims inside the location,” Lopez told CBS2′s Amy Johnson.
Officers entered the store, and upon making contact with the suspect, an officer-involved shooting occurred, Lopez said.
The suspect was arrested and taken to a local hospital for treatment where he was listed in critical condition.
No other injuries were reported.
