UCLA Police Release Sketch Of Sexual Assault Suspect

WESTWOOD (CBSLA.com) — UCLA police released a sketch Wednesday of a sexual assault suspect who allegedly tried to attack a student on the Westwood campus.

The incident happened around 1:30 a.m. Jan. 7 while the victim was walking alone on the sidewalk outside the Engineering IV building.

Officials said the suspect exited nearby Parking Structure 9, grabbed the woman and told her he was going to assault her.

However, when the man tried to take the victim to the ground, she was able to break free from his grasp. She was not injured in the attack, according to campus police.

The suspect is described as Caucasian, between 30 and 35 years old, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall and 160 pounds, with short dark hair. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Police have increased patrols on campus and are urging students to use a free UCLA escort service instead of walking alone.

Anyone with information about the attack is encouraged to contact the UCLA Police Department at (310)825-1491.
