MANHATTAN BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Meadows Elementary School and Manhattan Beach Preschool were placed on lockdown for more than an hour Tuesday as authorities searched for a robbery suspect.

Police received a call from nearby residents who walked in on two suspects burglarizing their home around 1 p.m.

Authorities arrested one suspect, but the other fled.

The lockdowns were lifted by 2:30 p.m., but Manhattan Beach Police advised parents to approach the schools from Manhattan Beach Boulevard, as a police perimeter is still in place north of the schools.

Meadows Elementary School is at 1200 North Meadows Ave.

Manhattan Beach Preschool is at 1431 15th St.
