HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — A 19-year-old man has died and a second person was grazed by a bullet following a shooting outside a Hollywood nightclub.

According to police, a fight broke out about 2 a.m. Sunday inside the Empire Club on N. Cahuenga Boulevard and moved outside and escalated.

"It appears there was some type of altercation, physical in nature, between some people outside of the club location," LAPD Capt. Beatrice Girmala told KNX

Video of the brawl captured by TMZ.com shows a group of women involved in a physical altercation. Moments later, larger groups of people surfaced. Some stood back and watched while others reportedly joined in.

"Basically, the club was shutting down. We were on our way out. A couple girls got into a scuffle. A couple guys tried to get involved to break it up and while that was going on I guess the guys got a little heated," Jeffrey Valera, a witness, told CBS2's Joy Benedict.

"Heard a few threatening statements, heard a few slurs and after that I heard a few terms that mean gun and about five seconds later, some gunshots happened. Three, four or five gunshots. I just grabbed my little brother and pulled him down behind a car and we just ducked down," Valera said.

The deceased was transported to a hospital by ambulance and later died.

A second victim, also a man, was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the fight. The third victim, identified as a woman, was treated at the scene after a bullet ricocheted off her leg.

A suspect description was not immediately available.
