LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A pedestrian has been fatally struck by a Metro Blue Line train in South Los Angeles.
The fatal collision occurred at the crossing near the Vernon station at Long Beach Avenue about 4:58 p.m. Friday.
Erik Scott, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department, said the person was pronounced dead at the scene.
The identity of the victim was not released. Authorities did report that the victim was male, however.
There were no injuries reported to passengers on board the train.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
