WHITTIER (CBSLA.com) — Deputies fatally shot a knife-wielding suspect Thursday afternoon in Whittier, according to authorities.

The shooting occurred 4:15 p.m. at Morrill Avenue and Holbrook Street, said officials.

The suspect, pronounced dead at the scene, was described as an adult Latino.

No deputies were injured.

Gil Leyvas, reporting in Sky9, said an additional suspect was at-large.

Police did not confirm if there was a second suspect or announce what the deceased was originally wanted for.

The shooting, per Sheriff’s Department protocol, is being investigated.
