The iconic Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows sits atop scenic bluffs overlooking Santa Monica Beach and has long been a haven for celebrities, politicians and anyone who enjoys a luxurious stay by the beach. Though there isn’t much to improve on, even classics need a refresher from time to time.
The newly refashioned suites, designed by Lynda Murray, have a sophisticated, yet beachy vibe. Murray’s eclectic style combines classic and contemporary pieces, such as hickory hardwood floors, a candelabra chandelier and a dramatic velvet wing back bed. Vintage pieces, such as a tufted and weathered, brown leather club chair, industrial side table and reclaimed wood coffee table provide contrast to the modern elements, such as a sleek glass and metal desk and marble top bar area with bright blue painted cabinets.
When it’s time to eat, experience one of the best brunches in town at FIG and try the Kegs and Eggs (any brunch item with an endless pint of beer). If beer is not your thing in the morning, try the fresh and fruity Blood Orange Beet Mimosa. Brunch items include Huevos Rancheros, Chilaquiles and Bacon Waffles a la mode (with bacon ice cream).
The Bungalow is Fairmont’s hip, new beachfront lounge, a perfect place to sit back with a cocktail, watch the sunset over the beach and chill with friends. The menu at The Bungalow includes house-made cocktails and small bites by Chef Ray Garcia’s FIG Restaurant. The Bungalow is closed Mondays.
No need to abandon your New Year’s resolutions while staying at the Fairmont. Exhale Mind Body Spa is launching a new yoga program in 2013 and the Santa Monica location is the first in the nation to begin the new program. Three types of yoga classes are now available: Exhale Power, Exhale Flow and Exhale Chill. Exhale also offers Core Fusion classes and spa therapies – a great way to relax after a work-out. Jump into a new fitness routine with the New Year at Exhale.
