Man Tries To Sexually Assault UCLA Student On Campus
WESTWOOD (CBSLA.com) — UCLA police are on the hunt for a man who tried to sexually assault a student on the Westwood campus early Monday morning.
The incident happened around 1:30 a.m. while the victim was walking on the sidewalk outside the Engineering IV building.
Officials said the suspect exited nearby Parking Structure 9, grabbed the woman and told her he was going to assault her.
When the man tried to take the victim to the ground, however, she was able to break free from his grasp. She was not injured in the attack, according to campus police.
The suspect is described as Caucasian or Asian, around 30 years old, 5 feet 11 inches tall, 160 pounds, with short black hair. He was wearing a gray hoodie sweatshirt and blue jeans.
Police told KCAL9's Jeff Nguyen that they are increasing patrols on campus and are urging students to use a free UCLA escort service instead of walking alone.
