Court Dismisses Suit Against LA, LAPD Chief Brought By Man Cleared In Giants Fan Beating

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles' defense attorney says a federal court has dismissed a lawsuit brought by a man who was arrested in the beating of a San Francisco Giants fan outside Dodger Stadium and later cleared.

City Attorney Carmen Trutanich's office on Monday announced the dismissal of Giovanni Ramirez's lawsuit against the city of Los Angeles and LAPD Chief Charlie Beck.

Ramirez also alleged his rights to due process were violated after he was arrested but never charged in the brutal beating of Bryan Stow.

At the time of his arrest, Ramirez's lawyer insisted his client had never been to Dodger Stadium, but police maintained Ramirez was the right suspect for months.

Two men were later arrested.

Stow, a paramedic from Northern California, suffered brain damage from the beating and is permanently disabled.
