LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Usually the only people racing through the streets at night are people who have just grabbed someone’s purse.
Don’t be alarmed in Los Angeles Saturday night if you see more than 6,500 people running all over the place.
The first-ever half-marathon “New Year’s Race — Los Angeles At Night” is being held.
In addition to the half-marathon, there will also be a 5K run and a kids’ fun run.
The half-marathon began at 9 p.m. at Seventh Street and Grand Ave.
Portions of Figueroa, Seventh, 11th, Main and Los Angeles Streets and Broadway, Sunset Boulevard and Stadium Way were closed.
The course passed Staples Center, the Fashion District, the Broadway shopping district, City Hall, Chinatown and Dodger Stadium.
