BURBANK (CBSLA.com) — Burbank police officers say they pulled over a driver, and registered sex offender, for not wearing his seat belt and found child porn and young girls clothing in his vehicle.
Donald Cowan had been driving in the 1900 block of North Ontario Street, near an elementary school, shortly before 3 p.m. Wednesday, the Burbank Police Department reported.
Upon learning the 69-year-old was a registered sex offender, the officers searched Cowan’s 2000 gold Toyota Camry and allegedly found young girls clothing in the trunk. Further investigation revealed Cowan was in possession of pornographic pictures of young girls, police said.
The Moreno Valley resident was arrested for allegedly possessing child porn. His bail was set at $380,000.
His arraignment was scheduled for Friday in Burbank Superior Court.
Cowan is described as white, with short brown hair and blue eyes, around 5 feet 4 inches tall and approximately 115 pounds. When he was arrested he was wearing a denim long-sleeved shirt and jeans.
Investigators ask that anyone who recognizes the suspect’s vehicle or has come in contact with Cowan to call Detective Lamoureaux at (818) 238-3246.
