Officials Say Nursing Home Employee May Have Sexually Assaulted Other Women

YORBA LINDA (CBSLA.com) — Police suspect a man who sexually assaulted a 69-year-old disabled woman at a senior-living facility in Yorba Linda may have attacked other women.

David Moreno, 28, was working as a maintenance worker at Emeritus Senior Living when he allegedly attacked the woman in her room last summer, according to Sgt. Jim Griffin of the Brea Police Department, which also patrols Yorba Linda..

The woman suffers from dementia.

Investigators said they found physical evidence in the victim's room that connected Moreno to the alleged crime.

The Riverside resident was arrested Nov. 5.

Moreno pleaded not guilty to sexual battery of an institutionalized victim and sexual penetration by foreign object of an incompetent victim, according to court records. If convicted, he could face up to eight years in prison.

The 28-year-old is currently free on $100,000 bail. He's due back in court Jan. 10.

Detectives and prosecutors reached out to the public Thursday in an effort to find other possible victims. Anyone with information was asked to call Brea detective Dave Wearp at (714) 671-4438 or Supervising District Attorney Investigator Anthony Sosnowski at (714) 347-8794.
