Ventura Man, 25, Nabbed After Crashing Allegedly Stolen Truck
VENTURA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities responding to an early-morning traffic accident in Ventura determined an unoccupied truck involved in the collision had been stolen.
The accident occurred at approximately 6:30 a.m. in the 200 block of MacMillan Avenue.
Witnesses told police that the truck had collided with an unoccupied and parked vehicle and that the driver of the truck had fled on foot.
Officers searched the surrounding area and located 25-year-old Anthony Finnegan of Ventura. They detained him after determining he was a match for the witness descriptions.
Police said Finnegan also had facial injuries consistent with having been involved in a traffic accident.
Officers also learned the truck had been reported stolen in the city of Taft eight days ago.
Finnegan was placed under arrest for possession of a stolen vehicle.
He was booked into the Ventura County Jail after receiving treatment for his facial injuries at the Ventura County Medical Center.
