LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Part of the 710 Freeway was closed Saturday evening after a truck carrying asphalt crashed into a center divider and created a smoky burning mess.
Long Beach firefighters said the truck, traveling south, crashed into the center divider near Willow Street.
Two northbound lanes and three southbound lanes remained closed hours after the collision.
Officials have also closed the northbound 405 to the southbound 710 transition.
A SIG alert was also issued.
A big rig driver and the driver of the asphalt truck were both injured.
The extent of their injuries is unclear.
It was earlier reported that a fuel tank had crashed causing a fire.
