Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Metrolink Train In Northridge

NORTHRIDGE (CBSLA.com) — A pedestrian has been fatally struck by a Metrolink train in the Northridge area.

The accident Friday evening occurred in the 8700 block of Wilbur Avenue off of Reseda Boulevard.

Brian Humphrey, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department, says the victim was struck by the westbound train.

As Sky2's Stu Mundel reports the, "pedestrian did die. The train continued on a little bit farther. No injuries on the train even though that train made an abrupt stop after that collision."

According to Mundel, the Los Angeles Police Department and Los Angeles City Fire Department were on scene investigating.

"The tracks will be closed while that investigation is going on disrupting some of the Metrolink service in the Valley," Mundel said.

The identity and age of the victim was not immediately known.
