Lancaster Police Identify Man Suspected Of Sexually Assaulting 14-Year-Old Girl

LANCASTER (CBSLA.com) — Police have identified a man suspected of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl as she was walking to school in Lancaster.

Authorities are looking for Charles James, 30, who they believe attacked the girl shortly after 6 a.m. on Dec. 13 in the 2000 block of East Avenue J-8, said Sgt. Brian Hudson of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The victim was headed to Eastside High School when she noticed she was being followed by a man. She crossed the street and the man followed, eventually catching up with her.

"He managed to grab a hold of her and (dragged) her to a bush area, where he repeatedly assaulted her," Hudson said.

The suspect fled the scene.

The girl called authorities from a nearby resident's house and was immediately taken to a hospital.

The suspect's last known address was reportedly in the Antelope Valley. James has also lived in Los Angeles, Inglewood and Long Beach.

James is described as a 30 to 35-year-old black man, 5 feet 7 to 5 feet 8 inches tall, with dreadlocks.

"We are concerned other girls may be victimized by him (if he's not caught soon)," Hudson said. "We're afraid it might happen again and the outcome could be much worse."

Anyone with information about the suspect or incident was asked to call Sgt. Hudson at 877-710-5273 or 562-619-1370.
