CHINO (CBSLA.com) — An alleged weekend fight between parents of youth football players at a San Bernardino County park is under investigation, authorities said Monday.
The fight took place Saturday afternoon at Ayala Park during a Pop Warner tournament, Michelle Van Der Linden of the Chino Police Department said.
Chino police received several calls reporting a fight at the park around 3 p.m.
The fight reportedly involved “as many as 200-300 people,” Van Der Linden said in a statement. However, witnesses said the brawl only involved a handful of men who may have been drinking.
When officers arrived, the scene had cleared and there were no reports of injuries.
“The investigation has revealed that the field was being rented by MAC Sports Hot Route Football and Pop Warner was not involved in the event,” Van Der Linden said.
MAC Sports has used the field for the past two years for the tournament, which draws teas from across the Southland. No previous incidents had been reported.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Chino Police Department at (909) 628-1234.
