Burbank Animal Shelter Slashes Adoption Fees For The Holidays

BURBANK (CBSLA.com) — The Burbank Animal Shelter has slashed its adoption fees in hopes that it will help many pets find new homes this holiday.

The shelter dropped fees to just $20 for most pets, down from $104 for dogs and  $78 for cats.

The reduced feeds include a shelter exam, vaccinations, spray/neutering and microchipping of the pet.

Officials recommend giving a gift certificate to the shelter instead of a pet as an actual gift, KNX 1070's Jan Stevens reported.

"We ask that the whole family come in and meet the animal, hold the animal, just make sure everyone gets along," Kelly Lauers, police technician assigned to the shelter said. "We'll have one of our animal attendants kinda talk to you more about the breed and what you can expect later on life and how the animal will be in your home."

The adoption fee reduction lasts until Dec. 31.
