Celebrities Participate In PSA To End Gun Violence In Wake Of Newtown Tragedy

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A new public service announcement against gun violence has been released in the wake of a shooting rampage at an elementary school in Connecticut.

Several actors and sports figures took part in the "Demand A Plan" PSA.

Beyonce, Jamie Foxx, Jessica Alba, Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon were just a handful of those featured.

Funded by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, the PSA was released one week after the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown that claimed the lives of 26 people, including 20 children.

Also on Friday, Bloomberg released the following statement in response to a news conference held by the National Rifle Association (NRA):

"The NRA's Washington leadership has long been out of step with its members. Leadership is about taking responsibility, especially in times of crisis. The NRA's lobbyists blamed everyone but themselves for the crisis of gun violence. It is time for Americans who care about the 2nd Amendment and reasonable gun restrictions to join together to work with the President and Congress to stop the gun violence in this country. Demand a plan."

The "Demand A Plan" ad was released by Mayors Against Illegal Guns.
