Man Suffers Head Wound In Suspected Road Rage Incident

WHITTIER (CBSLA.com) — A car-to-car shooting is under investigation Thursday after a man in his 40s was wounded in the head.

Whittier police responded to the scene of a single-vehicle accident around 6 a.m. at the intersection of Workman Mill Road and Beverly Boulevard, authorities said.

When officers got on scene, they found the driver of an Infinity coherent and speaking but with a gunshot wound to the back of the head.

Police say the bullet went through the victim's head rest and into his skull.

Police later determined the shooting happened on Beverly Boulevard between Citrus Avenue and Floral Drive.

The suspect escaped in an SUV. No description of the vehicle was given.

The victim, who has not been identified, was hospitalized in unknown condition, officials said.

The shooting is being investigated as a road rage incident and does not appear to have any gang ties.
