Family Holds Vigil For Jenni Rivera's Makeup Artist

NORTH HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — The tragic plane crash that ended the life of singer Jenni Rivera also took the life of six others, including popular makeup artist Jacob Yebale.

His friends and extended family gathered Tuesday night to celebrate his life at a North Hollywood church.

"He was a great artist, a very happy person and he loved life,' said Iris Corral, who did publicity for Rivera. She said Yebale was like a brother to her.

"It's a tremendous loss, not only for us that knew them, but the industry itself lost a lot of great people – hairdressers, makeup artists, publicists, artists – it's going to be hard," Corral said.

Yebale worked as the Rivera's makeup artist and his celebrity client list was expansive. He's also worked with Jessica Alba and Eva Longoria.

Rocker and reality TV star Bret Michaels said, "…Not only did the crash claim the life of Ms. Rivera but that of other people, including Jacob Yebale, who was a great friend to all of us at Michaels Entertainment…My thoughts and prayers go out to his family."

"Jacob was from Mexico, and I think he worked very hard to become who he was and was very proud of what he did, and he never changed. I hope people will know through hard work and perseverance that they can get somewhere," said Yebale's friend Ron Valdez.

Meanwhile, preparations were underway for the Jenni Rivera memorial, slated for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City. Tickets sold out online within minutes.
