Sex Therapist Outlasts The Rest To Win 'Survivor'

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — When all the votes were counted, it was the sex therapist who had a field day.

Denise Stapley  outwitted, outplayed and outlasted the competition -- including three "Survivor" returning all-stars, former major league baseball player Jeff Kent and former "Facts of Life" star Lisa Whelchel -- to be named the ultimate "Survivor" Sunday evening in the season finale of the popular reality show.

Stapley, a 41-year-old sex therapist from Cedar Rapids, Iowa was shaken by her win but said she knows where her $1 million check is going.

She told CBS2 and KCAL9 Entertainment Reporter Suzanne Marques post finale, "I've never in my life,  and probably never will again have this amount of money. I'm probably going to give you the most boring interview ever, but I have a 9-year-old daughter, and the first thing that comes to mind? Her college fund."

Okay, to be honest ... we did expect something slightly more provocative coming from a sex therapist.

Meanwhile, Whelchel, won the fan favorite $100,000 prize. Whelchel and Michael Skupin (the only contestant old enough to remember her from back in the day) made up the final 3 with Stapley.

The now-divorced actress told Marques she was moving to Los Angeles to reboot her career. "My kids are are all grown, married, or graduated from college. And I said, 'What do I wanna be when I grow up?' And I thought, the same thing I wanted to be when I was little. An actress. So I'm going to live on that money for a while until I can get a job."

At the start of the finale, show host and producer Jeff Probst asked for a moment of silence for the victims of the Connecticut shooting tragedy.
