Josh Rubenstein's Weather Forecast (Dec. 12)

STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) — We are looking at some unsettled weather for the next few days as the jet stream drops to the south.

The marine layer is thickening up already...and there is an indication of some warm frontal moisture moving through this morning...just drizzle.

We have an area of low pressure that is dropping down the coast. The front associated with the low should pass later this evening into early Thursday morning.

This isn't going to be a major rain maker as there is not a lot of moisture associated with this system.  However there are some decent dynamics so there is the possibility of a thunderstorms and small hail.  We are expecting around .25" to .30" in the flat lands...with some higher totals for foothills.

The cold core of this system will bring snow levels down to 3000'.  While there shouldn't be much accumulation that low...the snow and icy conditions could cause travel problems over the grapevine early Thursday.  Snow accumulation above 5000' should be 3" to 6".

The Jet Stream should stay in place for the rest of the weekend...opening the door to some more wet weather from time to time.  It looks like we could get some showers on Friday and possibly again on Sunday.  The forecast models are having a tough time with the timing of the next waves of energy...so for now...it's a chance of showers through the rest of the week and weekend.
