Smartphone App Helps Frustrated Drivers Find Parking In LA

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A new iPhone app aims to help frustrated drivers find an open parking spot in downtown Los Angeles.

The ParkMe app offers users the closest, cheapest public and private parking options in real-time from wherever they are located.

The app also includes parking availability at downtown street meters.

"Born and raised in Los Angeles, I have spent years relying on luck to find a parking spot. Now I can use technology," said Santa Monica-based ParkMe CEO and co-founder Sam Friedman.

ParkMe touts itself as the "largest parking database in the world," serving more than 26,000 parking locations across more than 500 cities, 29 countries, and seven continents, according to its website.
