JURUPA VALLEY (AP) — Sheriff’s officials in Southern California say they’ve arrested a man for stealing the same Bentley twice in a week.
Riverside County Sheriff’s Sgt. Andrew Elia said in a statement Friday that 46-year-old Robert Ponti was first arrested Tuesday, after deputies say they watched him get into a stolen 2005 Bentley Coupe parked outside a residence in Jurupa Valley.
The luxury car had been reported stolen from Orange County while the owners were out of town. Ponti was pulled over and arrested, along with a passenger.
On Friday, deputies saw the car parked outside the same residence, found Ponti at the home and took him back into custody. The vehicle was seized.
Authorities allege Ponti fraudulently obtained the Bentley from a tow yard where it was taken after the first theft.
