LONG BEACH (AP) — Long Beach police say they’ve arrested 11 members and associates of a violent street gang that is accused of operating a large-scale fraud ring.
Chief Jim McDonnell says the Baby Insane Crip Gang-related arrests came after 32 search warrants were served all over Southern California Thursday.
Eight children were taken into protective custody as a result of the searches. Police also seized cash, guns, luxury electronics and a $50,000 boat.
More than 200 detectives conducted an investigation that allegedly discovered the suspects were stealing personal identifying information to commit various financial crimes, including the filing of fraudulent tax returns.
The arrested suspects ranged from 21 to 48 years old.
