Kobe Bryant Is Youngest To Reach Prestigious 30,000-Point Mark

NEW ORLEANS (CBSLA.com) Kobe Bryant becomes the fifth player in NBA history to reach the 30,000-point milestone Wednesday night against the soon-to-be- New Orleans Pelicans.

Bryant, who is the youngest to reach the milestone, will join Wilt Chamberlain, Karl Malone, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Michael Jordan as NBA's most decorative scorers.

"I'm beyond proud," Bryant said to Fox . "I'm happy and it's a huge honor, to say the least. Whenever you hear those names and you think about the amount of players who have played this game, to be in that kind of company is always extremely, extremely special."

Bryant scored his 30,000th point off a drive to the basket with 1:15 left in the second quarter over Hornets' Robin Lopez. Bryant scored 29 points to lead the Lakers past the Hornets, 103-87.

Bryant, who joined the league at 18, leads the league in scoring with 27.9 points per game. He has 30,016 points.
