LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — It’s a rare black eye for Cirque du Soleil.
The colorful extravaganza “Iris” will close January 19 due to disappointing ticket sales, according to the show’s producers.
“Iris” opened September 2011 at the former Kodak Theatre (now named the Dolby Theatre.)
The show was produced with a $30 million loan from Los Angeles.
A spokesperson for the theatre’s owner, the CIM Group, said the loan would be repaid.
Producers said it is possible “Iris” would open in a new, yet undetermined city.
