UCLA Bounces Back With 82-56 Win Over Cal State Northridge

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Norman Powell led four players in double figures with 17 points and UCLA bounced back from an upset loss to beat Cal State Northridge 82-56 on Wednesday night.

Kyle Anderson added 15 points and Larry Drew II had a career-high 13 assists for the Bruins (5-2), who were coming off a 70-68 loss to Cal Poly last Sunday that dropped them from the Top 25. Powell lost track of the score and mistakenly committed a late foul that led to two winning free throws by the Mustangs.

The Bruins lost another player earlier Wednesday when center Joshua Smith quit the team, citing unspecified personal reasons. He joins guard Tyler Lamb, who left three days earlier over a lack of playing time. In an odd bit of timing, Smith was featured on the cover of the game program.

Stephan Hicks scored 11 points to lead Northridge (6-2), which fell to 1-7 against the Bruins in a series that began in 1992.

Northridge never threatened in the second half after trailing 38-24 at halftime.
