SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — San Francisco officials are seeking $1.2 million from the Los Angeles Dodgers to cover the unpaid medical costs for Bryan Stow, a San Francisco Giants fan who was brutally beaten in the parking lot of Dodger Stadium.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that in recent filings in federal Bankruptcy Court, San Francisco is seeking reimbursement from the Dodgers for medical bills not covered by Stow’s personal medical insurance.

During the March 31, 2011 attack after the season opener between the Dodgers and the Giants, the 43-year-old Stow was beaten so badly that he suffered serious brain injuries.

Stow spent months at a Los Angeles hospital in a medically induced coma before being transferred to San Francisco General Hospital, where he spent five months before being moved to a rehabilitation center.

Attorneys for Stow’s family have estimated that his lifetime medical care could cost more than $50 million.
